Quiet few days

Sorry I haven't posted much. After the election, I'm finding myself with surprisingly little to say. I'm glad the Democrats won. I have mixed feelings about Nancy Johnson of Connecticut not getting re-elected. I liked being able to tell people there was a UU Republican in congress, but as she was the author of the largest entitlement program in history (the prescription drug plan) I can't say my Libertarian side was ever too happy with her.

PB is talking about not gloating and that's my inclination, too.

Also, if I hear Ted Haggard's name one more time, I'm gonna scream. I don't care if he's being held up as an example of hypocrisy, the evils of the closet or whatever other thing you always believed that he's such a great example of.

So anyway, play this video a few dozen times:

then pipe down when you go to church, m'kay?

If Haggard had bought straight sex, he would not have been outted.

That's the hypocrisy in his story.

Americans have more hangups about sex and the subject of sex than all of our other shortcomings put together !

Bill, if he had been advocating for a law that jailed adulterers, I think he would have been. That's the hypocrisy in *his* story.

(I didn't say the "H" word, so you don't have to scream, CC--though I will say "nee! nee!")

I could hardly understand a word of that video.

Kim,

Here are the lyrics:

Winner takes all,
It's the thrill of one more kill,
The last one to fall,
Will never sacrifice their will,
But every time you look back,

They are all closing in,
And the only attack,
Is the way of the wind,
And the games will begin,

Now it's sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet victory, yeah,
It's the hardest one you'lll face, now,
But it's still worth the fight,
Now it's sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet victory, yeah,
You're the last one to fall,
Now it's sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet victory,

The original is by Sting.

I think Haggard was outted for political reasons. I'm quite certain there are many Evangelical Preachers out there buying straight sex this weekend.

Check Paglia via Gay Patriot on Foely; which is what stopped a good deal of the R's momentum. Haggard finished it off.

Since when does the Democratic Party use any gay issue in this coldblooded way as a token on the chessboard? You’d expect this stuff from right-wing ideologues, not progressives.

I took my daughter to see Hastert (my rep) at a small ralley the Sat before the election. Code Pink was there protesting including some guy about 6'4" who followed my daughter and I as we left shouting and swearing about Hastert and the pages (not about Hastert and Iraq, or min wage, or wire taps). He was following us down the sidewalk shouting and swearing about Hastert, perverts, and pages....

I like Sting. I even read his autobiography. (It's called "Broken Music" which is what his grandmother called rock music.

"any gay issue"

So if you're gay, your sexual misdeeds are off-limits because they're homosexual ones? That's ridiculous. A gay man who destroys his marriage by pressuring his spouse about going to sex clubs with him is as much fair game as Jack Ryan; a gay man who has a male intern give him oral sex is as much fair game as Bill Clinton or Gary Condit; a gay man who harasses pages is as much fair game as Dan Crane.

Equality does not mean getting a free pass on stuff that other people get in trouble for.
