What's so geeky about Ren Faires?
Of course, the original Ren Faire was the one in California....
I attended the first one in Northern Ca -- 1966? and every one thereafter til they sold it to RenCo and it got commercialized -- about 35 years later. We've gone to the revived original the last few years, but this was the last.(they gave up) We still will attend the Dickens Fair at Xmas. I have friends who have booths at the fairs, so that adds to the experience.

I hope you had a blast. So far I have been to a Ren Fest in 4 different states (Maryland, Virginia, Minnesota, and Iowa) and I have to say Maryland is the best of that bunch.

CC, fly your geek banner high and proud and then pass it over!

I've only ever been to small, localish Ren Faires, but they've been grand fun, and the MD one has been on my to do list for years.

The best and funniest fire eater I ever saw wasn't some cool kid on some beach boardwalk in California or the street in the East Village of NYC, but dressed in all brown leather and stockings in a muddy field in Vermont.

Also, there's no sound like the lengthy collection of sounds during a joust that accidentally results in an actual broken arm.

Not that I celebrate that mind you, but hey, it was exciting, dramatic, and scary. What more do you need on a sunny Saturday afternoon?

Cranky Cindy and Happy Cindy are both proud geeks.
