Random Thought

There's a Pagan-themed fashion spread in the New York Times magazine. Which got me thinking about what a Humanist-themed fashion spread would look like. I'm thinking tweed. Lots of tweed.

The men should smoke pipes and wear tortoise-shell glasses. (Since it's a fashion spread, they shouldn't have pocket protectors or use slide rules.)

Or else they should smoke Gauloises and wear black turtlenecks with goatees.

I didn't realize pagans were that into horns and skulls. The photo spread looked more Goth/ Satanist to me.

Oh, and if you haven't already seen it, I figured a pro-Walmarter would appreciate this.

What's wrong with tweed? And pocket protectors go nicely in the inside breast pocket of the jacket, thank you. But - slide rules! I leaned to use one in the sixth grade, bought my last one in fall 1974 for my first electronics course, and by the end of the fall everything was small calculators, which did not always give the same answers to the same problem, from one make to another.

Yeah, nobody much uses slide rules today, LinguistFriend, but that's part of what makes it such a great retro look.

Hmmm... As a Pagan who also owns and uses sliderules, I could make an interesting fashion statement! Especially since one of my slide rules has not a pocket protector, but its own leather sheath with belt hook! I may have been the last class to use a sliderule in college, at least at Purdue.
