If light-sabers are like other sabers, they are very clumsy. Once in some unwise exercise (I was young once, a disease from which I have recovered), I chose a saber, rather than the Spanish double-edged sword which my opponent chose, and I nearly lost my right thumb. There is still a noticeable effect on the bone of my thumb. So stay away from sabers. By the way, Hemingway had combat experience in the Italian infantry in WW I, while Walt Whitman was a volunteer hospital nurse in Washington during the Civil War, so I'd bet on Hemingway.
