Actually, a good selection of salami is necessary for any afficianado- different types are used for different purposes. A hard salami is good for thin slicing for hor d'ouvres and sandwiches; a softer one for thicker slices to go with cheese and wine. A milder garlicy type to go with accent a fine mustard, a stronger one to not be overpowered by a stinky cheese. Too many choices? Trader Joe's just barely has enough for a true salami fan!
