I hate it when the cops lie to protect their own. It really does seem to happen all the time. Sometimes, it's a matter of interpretation where an agency reads what appears to be a straightforward policy in a way different from how the public does. I can live with that, especially when a policy is vague.
But in this case, there was evidence on video all over the internet from multiple sources that the police were just plain lying about what happened, and they kept telling those lies in the face of it.

It's always been this way- ask anyone who lived through the 60s. The only difference is that in the past, your only option was to swallow your outrage and move on. Thank all you hold holy for cell phones- Marx promised power to the people, but Sony delivered it!

I hate it when U*Us, including if not *especially* "less than excellent" U*U ministers, lie to protect their own U*Us as it were. I have thought for some time now that making the UUA's *very* aptly named Ministerial *Fellowship* Committee responsible for "policing" clergy misconduct makes about as much sense as having the proverbial Police *Brotherhood* responsible for dealing with police brutality or other unethical behavior of police officers.
