"they must have launched that in the South"

I call bullshit on that assumption. Check out the Mac N Cheese Pops from the menu of a midtown Manhattan bar trying to be a speakeasy. Selling it for $10 and putting "strawberry chipotle bbq sauce" on it doesn't make it less fried.

Thank goodness no bowls are necessary! That is a comfort.

I showed this to my youngest daughter, who recently became Mrs. Buchannan. She hates any food with flavor—spices of any kind—as much a she hates to cook. Her comment? “Cool! Where can I get some?” No more evidence needed for my abject failure as a parent

Oh, too bad. The family is boycotting Arby’s. Mrs. Buchannan’s older sister, our daughter #2 was just laid off as assistant manager of a local franchise just two weeks after receiving glowing reviews, the promise of a big raise, and an appointment as manager of store of her own. What happened? Well, Daughter #2 became one of the first casualties of the “credit crunch” tied to the market collapse. Suddenly the little four store franchise operation lost its line of credit and was unable to routinely borrow operating money to even out the highs and lows cash flow at a fast food operation. They were unable to meet payroll without borrowing internally from corporate. Daughter #2 was suddenly too expensive to keep employed and was laid off. She was replaced by another employee willing to work for about 50 hours a week for 50 cents over minimum wage. So even Mrs. Buchannan says she will forgo the culinary delights of fried mac ‘n cheese at Arby’s.

I'm usually not one for boycotts, but I can understand your objection to Arby's these days.

If it helps, my impression from the boyfriend of a college friend of mine who was a fast food manager is that once you've got even assistant management of a fast food restaurant on your resume, you pretty much have a job someplace for the rest of your life as fast food restaurants have huge turnover and managing one is pretty much exactly the same as managing a competitor.
