Yes -- a friend IMed the link to me yesterday and I said, "You may never hear me say this again, but that was an awesome thing Paris Hilton did."
A better response on her part than on her parents, who had donated the maximum amount to McCain and now are pulling their support because he denigrated their daughter.
It's absurd for Paris Hilton's parents to worry about her getting ridiculed as a shallow celebrity and they shouldn't bother responding at all. If they were going to respond, it should have been to note that Paris is an heiress who has managed to become a self-supporting millionaire, so at least her celebrity has been turned to good use. (Republicans say that it's silly to refer to the estate tax as the "Paris Hilton" tax because Hilton isn't someone who needs her inheritance; she makes millions each year on her own. I'm a little doubtful that this will last past Ms. Hilton's first facelift, but she may prove me wrong.)

At the same time, it's not like her parents had the option of responding like this.

I'm starting to lose all hope that Hilton will ever fade into obscurity ....
As I said on another site, this is proof that even post-modernism is dead.
