1. Be talking about Hillary Clinton with a professor at a party.
2. Find out mid-conversation that said professor worked for the Office of the Independent Counsel investigating the Rose Law Firm during the Whitewater scandal.
Luckily, I hadn't said anything I wouldn't have said if I'd known this information at the beginning of the coversation. But I've vowed to keep closer tabs on my professors' backgrounds.

Yikes!
Having put my foot in my mouth many times over the years, I try these days to be far more cautious about spouting off political opinions. It's so difficult to gauge peoples' actual political views without really getting to know them first.
Oh, I still don't know her opinions. (Before Kenneth Starr became involved and the whole office quit, it was an independent counsel.)
But I bet she knows a LOT about Hillary.

What are you imagining you might have said to offend her? Pro or con?
Oh, I don't think I would have offended her, but its likely she knows a lot more about Hillary Clinton than I do and I'd hate to make myself look stupid.
CC
who doesn't talk about her art history opinions with art history professors either.
