Oh, I totally miss Wegperson's. I had them for one blessed year when I lived in Rochester, NY.

Wegman's is the best grocer in the country, bar none. It's also the best example of a successful "mom and pop" retailer you're likely to find, and ranked #1 in 2005 and #2 in 2006 on Fortune Magazine's list of the best employers in the country. Fausto was in the Wegman's flagship store in Pittsford, NY, just last weekend. (Neener, neener, PB!)

UUs who are lucky enough to attend the excellent humanist-oriented First Unitarian Church of Rochester are also lucky enough to have been shopping at Wegman's for a very long time -- perhaps even since 1915, when brothers Jack and Walter Wegman founded the first store in the chain. Walter's son Bob Wegman, who died earlier this year, expanded the concept into the chain it has become, and even now it is still family-owned, run by the third and fourth generations of Wegmans.
