CC is still on vacation in Ohio through tomorrow evening. Having a wonderful time. Wish you were here!

Too often vacationers from the East go no further than Ohio because they can’t imagine the terrain could be more sublime. If time allows, drive next door to my home state of Indiana, which has more picturesque scenes than even the one you posted.

Since I was driving when CC took this picture, I know that not all of the neighborhood is this pleasant, and this area is just above swamp level. Even though the "states that begin with vowels" have proverbial deficiencies, there is much that is very pleasant. CC saw a bit of SW Indiana with me last summer, when on the way to GA we briefly visited the little town of New Harmony where my paternal family moved from England in the 1820s to join the utopian socialist settlement of Robert Owen. NW Ohio also has the pleasant aspect of being within easy driving distance of many towns good to visit, like Chicago, Ann Arbor, Columbus, and Cleveland.

And *do* try to make it to the Great Serpent Mound.
