The Spirituality of AA

I have real mixed feelings on Alcoholics Anonymous. Of my two closest friends to get into it, one smoothing integrates it into her life, the other is quite culty and creepy. Admittedly, neither of them drink.

Rev. Melanie has a different perspective.

I was especially amused by the story about the man who asked for a definition of spirituality -- I've been asking people to define "spiritual" for years. I rarely get a definition at all, let alone a good one. The most coherant definition I've been offered is "singing together" but it seems somehow inadequate. She writes about it in terms of connections to self, other, and God of our understanding. Fine -- then what's the difference between spiritual and psychological? Is there a difference? Is it just focus?
