I liked the sermon that Joel posted, and that is pretty much how I view the Secret. I didn't read the book, but my mother gave me the movie, and I watched it. It reinforced some good practices for me - the ones mentioned in that sermon. Think positively, be thankful for what you have, believe in yourself, don't be afraid to share with others, there is abundance (as opposed to scarcity), and spending more time with positive, open hearted people.
I'm not sure why The Secret is so slammed - take what is good in it and leave the rest behind. Isn't that what we always have to do? One of these days I'm going to write an article called "Why the Secret Doesn't Suck" or something like that.

You might like this sermon about the secret by our own minister here in Indianapolis: http://www.allsoulsuuindy.org/ser20070506.htm
Joel -- That was great, thanks.
