Tell all your friends about the Nigerian Scam

Because apparently it isn't famous enough.

I read a report that said this was high up on the top ten list of most popular scams, and the average amount bilked from victims was something like $17,000 - maybe more.

Nuts. I get thousands of spam mails a month, and I can't believe anyone would believe the emails that these scammers send out. Poor spelling, incoherent sentences, entirely capitalized, not to mention YOU DON'T KNOW THESE PEOPLE SO WHY WOULD THEY GIVE YOU THEIR MONEY? I guess Christian clergy have been targed quite a lot in the past few years.

I actually have a soft spot in my heart for those stupid things. I get about 4 a year and read EVERY word, because they're so hilariously outlandish.

yeah -- when I read about those guys giving out the home addresses of people they don't like (reporters for the NY Times), my first thought was maybe we should put out the addresses and phone numbers for the spammers.... :-)
