It really appalls me. I probably will judge a parent more for hearing such language from his child in public than I would if the kid was dressed in rags.<BR/><BR/>To the extent that it's nearly impossible to make a small child understand that some words are not appropriate for certain situations (e.g., being in public), partly because they're still in early language acquisition and you don't want to make them feel bad about "using their words," I do sympathize with the desire to keep young children away from bad language. A kid over 7, however, should be able to deploy language in a more discretionary fashion, and therefore doesn't need to be sheltered to the same extent.
