I don't think you have to at all. If you are studying religion as a psychological or sociological phenomenon, it is completely irrrelevant whether God exists or not -- the effect depends not on God's existance but on people's belief. <BR/>I agree that "science" should study the phenomenon of religion. It is certainly influential -- both good and bad. <BR/>As to the second story -- I wonder if one of the churches he is going to visit is UU?
