Those wacky South Carolina laws

South Carolina governor Mark Sanford is going after wacky and obsolete South Carolina laws.

So, when do you think he will get to that bit about Atheists not being allowed to hold public office?

  1. I thought that was a given. Law or no law.

  2. That's in Art. IV, Sec. 2 of the South Carolina Constitution and therefore cannot be revoked by the legislature and executive alone, but also must be voted upon by the citizenry. (SC Constitution, Art. XVI.)

  3. Oh, I know he can't get rid of it on his own, but it is notably absent from his list of weird laws.

Because of a recent ton of spam and weird insulting comments from a brand-new poster, I'm putting in comment moderation for a bit. I'm planning to do comment moderation "Ms. Kitty Style," as in, with a very light touch and kicking only off-topic and unreasonably insulting posts.
