It looks like we're moving toward increased secularism, as we move away from the 1970-ish spiritual era. But I do not think that it is really as much fun as Euler's gamma function, which is a generalization of its well-known special case as a factorial, e.g. 3! = 3 x 2 x 1 = 6 The idea that you can extend such a relationship to a number such as pi (3.14159 . . . ), which goes on forever, is more than interesting. Once I wrote a short story about what else Euler was doing then in St. Petersburg, when he was working on the gamma function.
