Your mentioning politicians and lions in the same breath reminded me of a joke I heard when I worked in the legislature: two politicians are hiking in the woods when they notice that they're being stalked by a mountain lion. One of the politicians immediately stops, opens his backpack, pulls out a pair of running shoes, and begins taking off his clunky hiking boots. "Don't be ridiculous", the second politician says, "You'll never be able to outrun that lion."
